Looking for some input regarding removal of some obsolete listings
from the LBNA site.
Specifically, the Parliament Hill series of 3 boxes planted by the
Secret Gardeners and Canada Goose (separate listings for the same
boxes!) back in 2002. These boxes havent been found since I found #3
in May 05. You can imagine the dismay of many a LBer thinking
there's at leat 3, if not 6 Parliament Hill boxes, only to find out
after fruitless searching, that there are quite probably none!!! The
originators refuse to acknowledge any emails (they now reside in
Barbados and are something akin to world travellers). Canada Goose
has been contacted (finally!!) through Ryan and Amanda out in
Seattle. She has indicated that she has no problem with the listings
being removed or adopted or whatever.
Soooo...Patonkers has indicated a willingness in adopting/replacing
the boxes. Would it be possible to have, if not both, at least the
Canada Goose set of clues removed from the LBNA listings?
BTW there are other boxes listed by these folks that have been
verified as gone, but because they can't or won't respond to email,
the listings still remain frustratingly open.
Cheers, Jiggs

I totally understand. The missing box in the Royal City Park here in Guelph was a thorn in my side until I could adopt it. I hate to see finders wasting their time looking for something that's really not there, when they could be out looking for other boxes.
I just wish there was a system in place that the clue could remain in the database for posterity and for counts. I would like to see the record suppressed, i.e. it doesn't show on the list of active boxes but is still available for viewing in a special archived database and still stays in a persons found statistics. But it doesn't look like LBNA is going to do this, so the next best thing would be to remove defunct boxes.
Did you read that AQ will be putting up for adoption abandoned boxes.

"One of the things that's always bothered me were abandoned boxes from people who no longer letterbox. The boxes go missing, but the status never gets updated. Or the clues become out of date and the letterbox essentially becomes trash because nobody can ever find it. So from day one, I've always wanted to do something about those abandoned letterboxes....For all boxes that don't have an owner who has logged into AQ for one full year, I'm going to set those boxes up as being availble for adoption. Less than 1% of the boxes on AQ fit this description, and as long as you log in once a year, you're boxes won't go up for adoption. This is about people who've stopped letterboxing altogether--or at least left clues on AQ that they no longer maintain."
You have my support. Is there anything I can do - email the LBNA webmasters?

Oops. I thought I was posting to our local letterboxing group. Guess I don't need to email the webmasters as they would be reading this post.

That's been one of my complaints about both AQ and LbNA
for a long time and I'm glad to see AQ tackle it. I've
forwarded the suggestion to the LbNA webmasters.

Hear. Hear...... I've had the same problem. and had no idea what to do about it since I'm pretty new to this wonderful and sometimes challenging hobby. I went looking for the Pig Poop-a-Roo in Pittsfield last summer and to date still have never heard from the original planter. I would love to either know that it was missing or I just overlooked it. (I;'m betting it's missing). Any suggestions?
